- FOUND: code p0117 engine coolant temperature sensor circuit low. Coolant sensor reading on scan tool appear to be normal. Need to raise the vehicle to inspect the sensor and the wiring. Accessed the coolant temperature sensor. The wiring and the connector look to be okay at this time. The sensor is outputting a normal reading at this time. There is a coolant leak at the water housing which connects to the lower radiator hose at the engine. It is likely that the vehicle lost enough coolant from this leak that it caused the engine to overheat which produced a reading from the coolant temperature sensor that was out of the normal range. The coolant temperature at the time the code set was reading 275°. Over 1 gallon of coolant had to be added to perform a cooling system pressure test.
